Welcome to the Ypsilanti-Willow Run Unification Advisory Groups Website
Advisory Groups were formed and officially launched January 24, 2013, with over 200
educators, parents, students, staff and community partners in attendance. Seven
groups, along with several sub-groups have been collaborating weekly to develop
models for the educational pillars identified as the key components for a
successful school district. This site was created to build awareness of all
Advisory Group activities including meetings, the schedule of recommendations to
the board of education and other pertinent information.
In the winter of 2014 advisory groups were reconvened to address elementary reconfiguration and balanced calendar initiatives for the 2014-15 school year.

"We use the term community centered to refer to several aspects of community,
including the classroom as a community, the school as a community, and the
degree to which students, teachers, and administrators feel connected to the
larger community of homes, businesses, states, the nation, and even the
world." -- How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Experience, and School;
